The Guard Journal is an independent editorial desk covering Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu technique, culture, and injury prevention.
The site is built around the Guard Card: a single board sheet that pins one guard or position to the mat map and records the same six notes every time — guard family, purpose, key points, common mistakes, one drill, and skill level. Cards are grouped into guard families so a reader can move from a position they already know to the ones that connect to it.
Our editors cite competition rulebooks and peer-reviewed sports-safety research. Everything here is technique education for supervised training with a partner, and nothing on the site is self-defense or real-fight instruction.
